About Advance Therapy

Who We Are, and Why We Only Work in Your Home

Choosing who supports your autistic child is not a small decision.

You are letting someone into your home, around your child, at a point when you are probably already tired and already sceptical of promises.

So this page is about facts rather than adjectives.

What we do

Home-Based ABA Therapy, Delivered Where Your Child Lives

Advance Therapy provides home-based ABA therapy for autistic children and children with developmental or behavioural needs across the United Kingdom.

We are a home-only provider. We do not operate a clinic and we do not ask families to travel. Our behaviour analysts and therapists come to you, and every programme is delivered in the rooms your child already lives in.

That's a deliberate clinical choice, not a limitation. The difficulties families describe to us happen at the kitchen table, in the hallway at 8am, at bedtime.

Reviews of naturalistic and parent-mediated behavioural intervention consistently find that teaching within everyday routines helps children generalise skills, rather than leaving them tied to a single room and a single adult. NICE guidance also supports involving parents and carers directly in psychosocial interventions for autistic children.

Our Standards

Registration.

Behaviour analysis in the UK is credentialled through the UK Society for Behaviour Analysis (UK-SBA), whose register has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority since January 2023 — the same framework used across regulated health professions. Registrants must evidence a current DBS check, safeguarding training and professional liability insurance, and are bound by the UK-SBA Code of Ethical and Professional Conduct, which includes a formal complaints procedure.

Enhanced DBS checks.

Every practitioner entering a family home holds a current enhanced DBS check. Documentation is available to families on request.

Supervision.

No therapist works unsupervised. Every case is overseen by a senior behaviour analyst who reviews session data and holds clinical accountability for the programme.

Our approach

How We Practise

01

Consent-led, not compliance-led.

We use positive, reinforcement-based teaching. We do not use punishment procedures. We work with your child's motivations and treat their communication — including refusal — as information rather than defiance.

02

Honest about evidence.

ABA has a substantial research base and a genuine history of criticism from autistic adults, much of it about older, compliance-focused practice. We think families deserve to hear both. We won't tell you a programme will make your child appear non-autistic, because that isn't our goal and it isn't a promise anyone can keep. Our goal is a child who can communicate, cope and choose.

03

Led by your priorities.

Goals are agreed with you and ranked by what would improve your family's daily life soonest — not by a standard curriculum.

04

Measured.

We collect data every session. When something isn't working, we change it. That's not a failure of the approach; it is the approach.
